In the wake of no-confidence votes from all but two of the 17 colleges at NYU, the Board of Trustees published a report on NYU’s planned expansion, dubbed “NYU 2031”. The report said that over just the next ten years, NYU will take on more than $1 billion of debt in order to carry out the expansion plan. At the same time, they’re planning to spend another $100 million per year on expansion in money taken from our budget surplus. NYU graduates the most heavily indebted classes of students in history, while Sexton and the board of trustees continue to prioritize expansion over students’ most pressing needs. SLAM is organizing students to demand that more of our budget be used for financial aid, because students’ needs should come before building NYU’s real estate empire.

We Demand Solutions to the Student Debt Crisis.
